Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its biodiversity. The park includes different environments such as the lake, the forest, and the plain area covered with shrubs, woodland, grasses, and acacia plants. You can spot wild animals such as elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffalos, and bird species like flamingos. The park is also home to reptiles, amphibians, and the legendary tree-climbing lions. These lions climb trees because they don't like wet soil due to underground springs. The park is also rich in primates.
After breakfast, we leave Manyara and enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will proceed crossing Ngorongoro Highlands to Ndutu Area. Here we will start the game drives for this day with special attention to the Great Migration.
Serengeti National Park is one of the largest parks and is the best destination for spotting predators like leopards and lions, as well as witnessing the calving ground of migrating wild animals. Located in northern Tanzania, this UNESCO World Heritage Site occupies an area of around 15,000 square kilometers. It is home to over 2 million herbivores, 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 550 cheetahs, and some 500 bird species. The park is famous for its massive herds of migratory wildebeest, zebras, and antelope species like gazelles during the dry season.
Additionally, the North Serengeti supports an abundance of resident wildlife, including lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, crocodiles, and the rare oribi antelope. After the game drives, we'll drive to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will enjoy our last game drive in the Ndutu Area. Late in the afternoon, after enjoying our delicious picnic lunch, we will proceed to Ngorongoro for our overnight stay on the crater rim.
The Great Migration herds aggregate close to Lake Ndutu Area, between Serengeti and Ngorongoro, from December to March. Here, they find fresh food, but they also face big predators waiting for them. February is the calving season for wildebeests, making it a particularly exciting time to visit.
After the game drives, we'll drive to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will descend inside Ngorongoro Crater for game drives with a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight back home or to other destinations, where the safari ends.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the seven wonders of Africa. It is one of the most incredible ecosystems on Earth, formed millions of years ago in the massive explosion of a volcano. Here, the Maasai and their livestock live alongside wild animals in harmony without harming one another. The crater is about 610 meters deep and covers roughly 260 square kilometers.
Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25,000 species, you can see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and some of the more than 500 bird species in the area within minutes. With a little bit of luck, you might even catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino.
